Help Unload Jiwasraya And Asabri Corruption, Attorney General Says Thank You To Erick Thohir

JAKARTA - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin appreciated and thanked SOE Minister Erick Thohir for helping his party uncover the mega corruption case in state-owned companies, namely PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and PT Asabri (Persero).

"Thanks to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Mr. Erick Thohir, for his contribution and cooperation. The Prosecutor's Office can completely uncover the mega corruption scandals at PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and PT Asabri (Persero)," said Burhanuddin in his statement on the 2021 End of Year Reflections and Plans. Furthermore, Burhanuddin said that throughout 2021 his party had handled 1,852 corruption cases. Two of them are the Jiwasraya and Asabri cases. In the Jiwasraya and Asabri corruption cases, said Burhanuddin, the AGO ensnared a number of parties as suspects and eventually became prisoners.

"The two corruption cases caused fantastic state losses of up to tens of trillions of rupiah and have also given maximum demands, namely life imprisonment and the death penalty for the perpetrators," he said.

As is known, from the Jiwasraya corruption, the state lost Rp. 16.8 trillion. In the Jiwasraya case, the Court handed down life sentences to PT Trada Alam Minera Tbk President Commissioner Heru Hidayat, former Jiwasraya President Director Hendrisman Rahim, former Jiwasraya Finance Director Hari Prasetyo, former Jiwasraya Investment and Finance Division Head Syahmirwan, PT Maxima Integra President Director Joko Hartono Tirto, and President Director of PT Hanson International Tbk Benny Tjokrosaputro.

Heru and Benny were also sentenced to pay compensation of Rp. 10.7 trillion and Rp. 6 trillion, respectively. The panel of judges assessed that both of them were proven to be corrupt in the management of Jiwasraya's stock and mutual fund investments, resulting in a state loss of IDR 16.8 trillion.

Meanwhile, in the Asabri case, the state lost Rp. 22.78 trillion. In the Asabri case, the President Director of PT Trada Alam Minera Heru Hidayat was charged by the prosecutor with the death penalty. The prosecutor believed that Heru and a number of his party had committed corruption in the management of PT Asabri's funds which harmed state finances. In addition, Heru Hidayat was also demanded a replacement money sentence of Rp. 12.434 trillion.

In contrast to Heru Hidayat, a number of other parties whom the Prosecutors believe jointly committed corruption in the Asabri case, especially those from the PT Asabri board of directors, were threatened with more punishment. For example, the President Director of PT Asabri for the period 2012-March 2016 Major General Purn Adam Rachmat Damiri was charged by the prosecutor with a 10-year prison sentence plus a fine of IDR750 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison and a replacement money of IDR17.9 billion.

Then, Director of Investment and Finance of PT Asabri for the period 2012-June 2014 Bachtiar Effendi was charged with a 12-year prison sentence, plus a fine of Rp.

Furthermore, the Director of Investment and Finance of PT Asabri for the period July 2014 to August 2019 Hari Setianto was sentenced to 14 years in prison plus a fine of IDR 650 subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Asabri for the March 2016-July 2020 period, Lt. Gen. Purn Sonny Widjaya, was charged with a 10-year prison sentence plus a fine of Rp.
