Sandiaga Uno Wants MSMEs To Be Involved Before Formula E Takes Place, Including The Electric Vehicle Contest
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekaf) Sandiaga Uno asked that the plan to organize Formula E must be followed by a series of pre-activities such as the Costume Electrical Show (electric vehicle contest) to the involvement of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"Just as we are preparing for the Asian Games, that this can't just be an event, but there must be a pre-event, activities such as a costume electrical show as well as the involvement of MSMEs," said Sandiaga while reviewing the tour at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Antara, Saturday, January 1st.
Sandiaga said that Formula E was included in automotive sports and tourism, so the emphasis on tourism should also be highlighted. According to him, through pre-activities before Formula E rolls out, it can bring in economic activities as well as create jobs.
The electric car racing event is planned to be held on June 4, 2022 in Ancol. Ancol was appointed as the location of the Formula E circuit after going through a long study of Formula E Operations (FEO) as a representative of the international automotive federation (FIA).
The Ancol area was chosen because it is a dynamic and iconic place in DKI Jakarta. In addition, it is considered not to interfere with other community road infrastructure.
Sandiaga said various activities that will take place in 2022 can be a signal of economic and tourism revival, according to the Ministry of Tourism's agenda, the Year of Awakening.
"This Sport Tourism automotive, which we are collaborating with IMI (Indonesian Motor Association) and others, can bring economic activity and create jobs. For me, 2022 is a year of revival. We must unite and see as a whole that we must accelerate (fast motion), Geber (moving together)," he said.
Meanwhile, urban planning and environmental observer Nirwono Joga said that the Formula E race, which is planned to be held in Ancol, North Jakarta, should be an impetus to make it a model for low-pollution areas.
Moreover, he said, the electric car racing event was indeed a campaign for the use of electric vehicles as an effort to reduce exhaust emission levels in Jakarta.
"I actually see that with the establishment of Formula E in Ancol, we encourage Ancol as a pilot area, which is not only a location for Formula E, but also can see Ancol as a low-emissions area for example," said Nirwono.
This low emission area, said Nirwono, can be done by making Ancol friendly for cyclists, creating a transportation system in an area that is truly environmentally friendly, such as using electric buses or biogas, and turning Ancol into an urban forest area.
