Although Not Registered, The AGO's Building Renovation Follows Cultural Heritage Procedures
JAKARTA - Head of the Cultural Protection Division of the DKI Jakarta Culture Office, Norviadi Setio Husodo, said that the main building of the Attorney General's Office that was burned has not been registered as a cultural heritage building.
However, said Norviadi, the process of renovating the building of the Attorney General's Office continues to go through the same procedure as the renovation of cultural heritage.
"In the document of DKI Governor's Decree Number 475 of 1993 which contains the designation of a cultural heritage building, the building has not been registered with the decree. Although it has not been registered as a cultural heritage, the treatment is the same," Norviadi said when contacted, Monday, August 24.
In SK 475/1993, it is stated that activities to restore, repair, change shape, change colors, replace building elements, move, dismantle and so on must be with the permission of the Governor of DKI Jakarta.
Norviadi explained, the reason the Attorney General's building must be renovated using cultural heritage procedures and requires consultation with a special team, because the building is included in the Kebayoran Baru restoration area.
"From the Provincial Government there will be a Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB) and there is a TSP. So, it can't be calculated how many days it has to be repaired. Besides, it's a very large building," he explained.
Then, the type of building in the Attorney General's office is an old or heritage building. So, the renovation process must also be done carefully and pay attention to the existing building structure.
"The information is, (the Attorney General's Office building) was built around the 1960s by FX Silaban. The building over 50 years old is considered (cultural heritage) and this building is also in the restoration area," he explained.
The AGO building caught fire on Saturday, August 22 at 19.10 WIB. Presumably the fire came from the sixth floor. Police investigated the cause of the fire.
