Bobby Nasution Doesn't Want The Omicron Variant To Enter Medan City, Orders The Health Office To Work Hard

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution does not want the Omicron variant, both local transmissions and foreign travelers to enter Medan City, North Sumatra.

"Therefore, the Medan City Health Office must be able to work hard and have a quick reaction to prevent this virus from entering the city of Medan," said Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 31.

He emphasized this after inaugurating Dr. Taufik Ririansyah as Head of the Health Service along with 12 echelon II structural officials within the Medan City Government at Medan City Hall.

Data from the Ministry of Health as of Wednesday, December 29, shows that there are 68 cases of Omicron in the country, which are dominated by foreign travel agents, including one of them traveling within the country from Medan to Jakarta.

Bobby Nasution said the 37-year-old man, a resident of Medan City, tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and had no history of overseas travel.

However, he stated, another resident who had close contact with this man had been tested before returning to Mota Medan and the results were negative.

"Arriving in Medan, the person concerned did self-quarantine for a few days. Then the city tested again, and the results were also negative. In addition, yesterday seven other close contacts were tested and the results were also negative," said Bobby.

"Especially the Health Service, I remind you to optimize the handling of COVID-19 so that we can prevent the Omicron variant from entering the city of Medan," continued Bobby Nasution.
