Firli Bahuri Ready To Attend Session Of Alleged Code Of Conduct Violation

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri is ready to attend the ethics hearing by the KPK Supervisory Board. This trial was held after Firli was reported on suspicion of violating the code of ethics for using a luxury helicopter while on a visit to his parents' grave in Baturaja, South Sumatra.

This was conveyed by the Acting Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the field of prosecution, Ali Fikri. Ali said, the trial was originally due to be held on August 25 at the KPK Anti-Corruption Learning Center Building on Jalan HR Rasuna Said Kavling C1, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. However, the trial is not open to the public.

"Of course anyone who is reported on the alleged violation of the code of ethics, both the leadership and employees of the KPK, is committed to be ready to fulfill the summons for clarification and examination by the KPK Supervisory Board," Ali said in a statement to reporters, Monday, August 24.

Moreover, one of the duties of the KPK Supervisory Board in accordance with Article 37B of the Corruption Eradication Commission Law is to receive and follow up on public reports regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics committed by leaders and employees of the anti-graft institution.

So, anyone who is suspected of violating the code of ethics must comply with the rules that have been determined. Moreover, the purpose of enforcing ethics is in order to safeguard the KPK and comply with applicable regulations.

Furthermore, Ali ensured that his institution would follow the applicable regulations regarding the ethics trial. "The KPK will follow the applicable regulations. However, we must all maintain and respect the ongoing process," he said.

Previously, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean said that KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri was scheduled to undergo an ethical hearing on August 25.

As examined, Firli is suspected of violating the code of ethics and code of conduct for Integrity in Article 4 paragraph 1 letter c or Article 4 paragraph 1 letter n or Article 4 paragraph 2 letter m and / or leadership in Article 8 paragraph 1 letter f KPK Supervisory Board Regulation Number 2 2020 year.

It is known that Firli was reported by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) to the KPK Supervisory Board for using a luxury helicopter while traveling from Palembang to Baturaja, South Sumatra last June.

This trip was carried out by Firli with the aim of making a pilgrimage to the graves of his parents. According to MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman, the use of luxury helicopters with the PK-JTO code is unnecessary.

This is because the distance from Palembang to Baturaja is only four hours by car. Moreover, he said, the use of this helicopter violated the KPK's code of ethics.
