Head of the Medan SAR Office, Toto Mulyono, explained that the victim along with 5 colleagues from Simalungun came to Sukacita Beach, in the waters of Lake Toba.

They compete to swim to the middle of the lake with a distance of 10 meters from the shoreline. Arriving in the middle, the victim and his friend tried to return to the shore.

"However, it was unfortunate that when he was about to return, it was suspected that the victim was exhausted and lost control, so he tried to ask his fellow victims for help. The victim's colleague tried to turn around and help but because he was not strong and exhausted, the victim could no longer be helped and sank into the lake, "continued Toto.

The report of the drowning victims was followed up by the SAR team to conduct a search by doing dives in Lake Toba.

The search for victims was carried out by deploying 7 personnel assisted by the TNI, Polri and village officials.
