Padang Police Detain Grandpa Perpetrator Of Rape Of Disabled Woman
PADANG - The Padang City Police (Polresta) and West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Regional Police have arrested a grandfather with the initials R (65), for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman who is known to be a person with a disability (down syndrome).
"We arrested the perpetrator on Wednesday (29/12) night, at this time he has the status of a suspect and we are holding him," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Padang Police, Kompol Rico Fernanda, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 30.
The police arrested the suspect, R, who was called by Pusek, under Article 286 of the Criminal Code concerning the crime of raping a defenseless woman, with a maximum penalty of 9 years in prison.
Rico said the case occurred on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at around 17.00 WIB, in the Corn field in the Kuranji District.
At that time the suspect was suspected of having molested the victim who could not resist.
The incident was revealed when a resident saw the suspect and the victim together in a corn field.
Feeling suspicious, the resident finally reported to the victim's family, then the family asked what had happened.
From there, it was revealed what the suspect had done to the victim. The victim through the language of communication (specifically) admitted that she had been molested.
After receiving this information, finally the family who did not accept it made a police report with the number LP/B/649/XII/2021/SPKT/POLRESTA PADANG/POLDA WEST SUMATERA, on December 3, 2021.
The report from the victim was then followed up by the Padang Police by investigating the whereabouts of the perpetrator.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the perpetrator was at his home in the Kuranji area, so he was immediately arrested on orders from the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit IV (Women and Children Services) of the Padang Police.
