12 People Become Suspects And Detained In The Burning Case Of Residents' Houses In East Kalimantan
Jakarta - The Paser Police have named 12 people as suspects in the case of burning houses in Jone Village and Senaken Village, Tanah Grogot District, East Kalimantan.
"The suspects have been detained at the East Kalimantan Police Headquarters," said Paser Police Chief AKBP Eko Susanto in Paser during a year-end press conference at Paser Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Thursday, December 30.
He said the suspects were charged with Article 187 of the Criminal Code regarding anarchist actions that led to the burning of houses and vehicles belonging to residents.
The anarchic case carried out by the suspects was purely a criminal act and had nothing to do with SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race and Intergroup).
"This is a purely criminal case, it has nothing to do with SARA elements," said Eko.
According to the Police Chief, a number of community leaders from both sides of the dispute agreed that the case was a pure crime, so the legal process would continue.
"Facilitated by the local government, a number of community leaders from both sides met and they agreed that this case will be processed legally," he said. Eko added that currently the condition of Paser Regency has returned to being conducive and personnel from BKO from the East Kalimantan Police have also returned. .
"The situation and conditions in the Paser area are conducive, so let's keep it safe and comfortable," he said
The Paser Police Chief also invites the public to maintain security and order and not to be easily provoked by hoax information that causes unrest in the community.
