Mahfud MD Reveals BLBI Obligors In Singapore Submit 120 Land Certificates To Task Force

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said an obligor of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) handed over hundreds of land certificates to the state. This handover was carried out through the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights on BLBI Funds.

However, Mahfud did not specify the obligor who submitted the land certificate. He just said the person was in Singapore.

"If I'm not mistaken, the report has submitted 120 land certificates to his team, Mr. Sugeng (Secretary of the BLBI Task Force, Sugeng Purnomo). The person is in Singapore but (because, ed) the calculations do not match so they have not been processed," Mahfud told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, December 30th.

Mahfud said the person actually still had 200 other land certificates. However, the handover has not been carried out because clarification to the National Land Agency (BPN) is still being carried out.

In addition, there are 1,312 hectares of land, which Mahfud said is already under state control. One of them is land assets in Cikarang, West Java.

Not only that, there have been a number of cash receipts received by the BLBI Task Force. However, this team will not stop because the government is focusing on pursuing assets belonging to BLBI obligors and debtors.

In fact, later regulations will be made to strengthen the work of the BLBI Task Force. This was conveyed by Deputy III of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Sugeng Purnomo, who is also the Secretary of the BLBI Task Force.

"We are currently preparing a draft regulation to strengthen the tasks of the BLBI Task Force," said Sugeng on the same occasion.

This regulation, he continued, will not only be used to confiscate goods that have been promised by debtors. But also to emphasize the civil rights of the team.

"Later on, this task force will not only be able to move to carry out confiscation, including goods that have been promised by the obligors to be handed over but have not been handed over. We will also take actions in the form of limiting civil rights which will be strictly regulated," he concluded.
