Investigating Alleged Corruption In Formula E, KPK Will Explore Transactions Including Payment Of Commitment Fees

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to dig up information to investigate allegations of corruption in the implementation of Formula E in Jakarta. One of them is by studying the documents submitted by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) some time ago.

"Now (the document, ed) is being studied by investigators. Surely all these documents are studied," said Deputy Chair of the KPK Alexander Marwata to reporters quoted on Thursday, December 30.

Investigators, continued Alexander, also studied the flow of money related to the implementation of the racing event. This includes examining the commitment fee, which is said to be more expensive than other host countries.

"Regarding, for example, whether it is true that organizers in other countries do not use commitment fees and others, that must be investigated. Confirmed," he said.

"Then regarding the amount, where is the transfer going to. It must also be investigated whether the transfer is to the owner of Formula E, it must also be asked. That's basic information," added Alexander.

The KPK will also investigate the selection of Ancol tourist attractions in North Jakarta. According to Alexander, the choice of the place was not possible suddenly, so it should be investigated.

"Formula E, the venue has already been determined in Ancol, in July. Well, that should have been confirmed. We'll see if the financing is only limited to Rp. 500 billion or something else," he explained.

In addition, research was also carried out because of the use of private money and sponsors to support the implementation of the electric car race. "The chairman of the committee himself said that he would use private funds or sponsors. Yes, we'll see," he said. Previously, the KPK admitted that it was investigating and had examined several parties related to allegations of corruption related to the implementation of the Formula E racing event. only the party who has been called and examined.

In the midst of this investigation, the anti-corruption commission has also received several documents from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

The document contains the approval process to the preparations needed by the KPK to obtain detailed and complete information in investigating allegations of corruption in the planned international event. The submission is intended to support efforts to monitor corruption prevention (MCP) to the KPK leadership
