More Familiar With Digital World, Indonesia Launches Digital Transformation Expo At G20 Presidency

JAKARTA – The G20 presidency which will be led by Indonesia will always bring digital technology transformation for its participants. This can be seen from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's plan to prepare a Digital Transformation Expo at the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) event later.

"We invite ladies and gentlemen in the Working Group and Engagement Group who have use cases in the digital field to join us in the Digital Transformation Expo, so that the infrastructure we build as upstream can be seen how it is used in various contexts," said the Secretary General of Communications and Informatics, Mira Tayyiba, in a press release quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 30.

Kominfo was appointed to oversee the Digital Economy Working Group, DEWG G20 and the second of three priority issues brought by the Indonesian government in the G20 Presidency, namely digital transformation.

The three priority issues that will be discussed at the G20 meeting are inclusive health, digital transformation and energy transition.

Meanwhile, in DEWG, there are three priority issues, namely post-COVID-19 recovery and connectivity; digital literacy and digital data skills; and the flow of cross-border data traffic and the free flow of data with trust.

The existence of DEWG, which is an increase in the status of the G20 Digital Economy Task Force, is a sign that G20 member countries agree that digital technology is the development agenda of each country and globally.

"This is a good signal, a good signal, so there needs to be a consensus on how we respond to digital technology. Discussions on digital issues only started a few years ago, so it's not the beginning of the beginning of the G20 because all countries are getting older, more and more feeling uncomfortable. can run from digital," said Mira.

Through DEWG, G20 member countries will have a clearer, more structured mandate and can increase synergies and discussions on digital issues.

"This increase will also give birth to stronger commitment, legitimacy, and institutional arrangements for discussing digital issues under the G20 platform," said Mira. This working group will also help avoid duplication in other G20 sectors.

The DEWG Forum is expected to produce something tangible, both for developed countries and for developing countries.
