Cooperation With The UAE, Erick Thohir: Indonesia's Health Industry Is Not Good At Home

JAKARTA - BUMN Minister Erick Thohir ensures that the transformation of Indonesia's health industry is not only good at home, but can be a good partner for countries in the world.

The Indonesian pharmaceutical state-owned company Kimia Farma and Indofarma were originally collaborating with a company from the United Arab Emirates (UEA) G42 Healthcare Holding in the context of handling COVID-19.

"At this time Indofarma and Kimia Farma are collaborating after yesterday's Biofarma. This is where we ensure that the transformation of the Indonesian health industry is not good at home, but becomes a good partner," said Erick Thohir who is also the Chief Executive of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and Economic Recovery. National (KPEN) quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 23.

He said that this cooperation was also part of Indonesia's efforts to maintain national health resilience amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have been consistent since our journey, we ensure energy security, food security and health security are three very important interests and are based on mutually beneficial cooperation," he said.

Furthermore, Erick said that Indonesia and the UAE will explore cooperation in the energy sector so that it can reduce oil imports.

"We know, our oil import situation is still quite high, how can we and our partners, friendly countries of the UAE, so that we can get a good solution. We don't want to just be a market, but we also want to get additional technology from a big country like the UAE, especially in the renewable energy sector, "he said.

Erick hopes that PLN will increase cooperation with the new renewable energy company (EBT) from Abu Dhabi, Masdar, to build solar energy.

"The meeting point that we did is how PLN can transform by partnering with Masdar to build solar energy, which is currently in Cirata, we are exploring again in several other areas," he said.

Erick also said that Indonesia would also collaborate with the UAE in the food sector in order to increase its market share considering that the UAE is a distribution center for countries in Africa and the Middle East.

"We hope that this cooperation can improve the quality of our food production while maintaining Indonesia's food security," he said.
