PKS: Coalition Must Be A Combination Of Islamists And Nationalists

JAKARTA - PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera said his party has opened communication with other political parties to build a coalition ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Although still dynamic, according to him, the ideal coalition axis consists of religious and nationalist political parties.

To build this composition, Mardani admitted that PKS can work together with all political parties that now have seats in the DPR RI.

"The coalition must be a combination of Islamist and nationalist parties. PKB, PAN and PPP plus together with Golkar or Nasdem are interesting," Mardani told reporters, Wednesday, December 29. Regarding the coalition, Mardani said, currently Chairman of the PKS Syuro Council Salim Segaf Al-Jufri and PKS President Ahmad Syakhu are actively communicating with other political parties to build mutual understanding.

"Dr Salim and Ustaz Syaikhu continue to open communication with all parties. Next is the deliberation to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates," he explained.

Therefore, this member of Commission II of the DPR RI hopes that by mid-2022 all communication between political parties can be completed. Then the coalition axis and presidential candidates can be announced.

"So hopefully by mid-2022 the coalition format will be clear. Hopefully it can be faster," he explained.
