Officers Still Struggling To Put Out The Fire At The Attorney General's Building

JAKARTA - The fire is still burning at the Attorney General's Office building, Jalan Sultan Hasanuddin, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Officers were still struggling to put out the fire.

Head of DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Satriadi Gunawan, said that his party needed additional water from the surrounding hydrants to extinguish fires at the Attorney General's Office building.

Currently, the water supply to extinguish the flames in the main building of the Attorney General's Office is taken from the Bulungan GOR swimming pool and a nearby river.

"For water sources, Alhamdulillah we have obtained hydrants and several water points, such as in the Bulungan swimming pool and several times," Satriadi told reporters, Saturday, August 22.

Satriadi admitted that the water supply carried in the car tank was not sufficient to extinguish the fire. Thus, a number of fire engines had to stop operating for a moment to wait for additional water supply to arrive.

"We will make a series of this. The car's capacity is 10 thousand liters. When it runs out, we have to wait for the water supply," he said.

Currently, a total of 38 fire engines have been deployed to the site. The number of personnel on duty reaches 200 people.

"Of the 38 cars, we will add more until we block locations (around the building). We will also add more Bronto Skylift cars from Jakarta Psuat and West Jakarta," he said.

The burning building consisted of floors 1 and 2, the room for the leadership of the Attorney General's Office; the 3rd and 4th floors are the intelligence room and the General Bureau and the 5th and 6th floors are the guidance and personnel room.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD ensures that the case documents handled by the Attorney General's Office remain safe. There are no case documents in the main building of the Attorney General's Office which caught fire.

"Regarding the fire in the AGO building, it can be informed that the case documents are safe so that the continuation of case handling will not be too disturbed," Mahfud MD said on Twitter @mohmahfudmd as quoted by VOI, Saturday, August 22.

The building of the Attorney General's Office that caught fire was the intelligence room and the HR room. Mahfud MD admitted that he had communicated with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and Junior Attorney General for General Crimes Fadhil Zumhana.

"Speculation also does not need to be further developed. The detention building for the suspects detained at the AGO is also in another part where the fire cannot reach. The detention building is at the back of the building some distance from the flames. Security has been tightened, "said Mahfud.
