Police Arrest Village Head In Garut Corruption BLT Poor Family Rp374 Million, The Money Is To Pay Debt

GARUT - The Garut Police Team arrested the Head of Ngamplang Village, Cilawu District on suspicion of misappropriating direct cash assistance (BLT) for poor families for the 2020 fiscal year. Due to this corruption case, state losses reached Rp. 374 million.

"We are conducting an investigation, it turns out that there are allegations that the village funds were misappropriated by the perpetrators, the total funds suspected of being misappropriated are more than IDR 374 million," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono as reported by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

The suspect with the initials ES is an active village head who was reported to have misappropriated BLT for communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for the 2020 fiscal year.

The suspect's method, he said, was not to distribute BLT to 200 beneficiary families (KPM) in his village.

"Should have distributed BLT to 200 KPM people, allegedly in June 2020 it did not distribute it to 24 KPM, in July to August 2020, ES did not distribute BLT to 200 KPM," he said.

The suspect continued AKBP Wirdhanto, admitting his actions in misappropriating BLT for his personal interests, including paying debts.

As a result of his actions, the suspect languished in a detention cell at the Garut Police Headquarters for further legal examination and was charged with Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison.

"We are snaring the law on corruption, the maximum sentence is 20 years in prison," he said.
