SMRC Survey: Reaches 25.2 Percent, PDIP Far Outperforms Golkar And Gerindra

JAKARTA - The survey institute Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) released the results of a survey related to the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). As a result, if the election was held today, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) would be the winner with 25.2 percent gain.

"If the elections were held now, PDIP would get 25.2 percent support," said SMRC Executive Director, Sirojudin Abbas in a forum release titled 'Prospects of Political Parties and Presidential Candidates: Trends in Political Behavior of National Voters' online, Tuesday, December 28.

These results far outperform Golkar and Gerindra, which always switch places in several surveys.

"While the second vote was contested between Golkar with 11.2 percent and Gerindra which received 10.8 percent support," he continued.

The fourth order is filled by PKB with 8.4 percent, the fifth Democrat 6.2 percent, and the sixth PKS with 5.1 percent. While other parties are below 4 percent and there are still 20.9 percent who say they don't know or don't answer. Abbas explained, in the last two years after the 2019 election, the people's choices for PDIP tended to not change much and remained at the top.

"In the March 2020 survey, PDIP received the support of 25.9 percent of the vote, almost the same as the current voter support," explained Abbas. Meanwhile, the public's choice of Golkar, said Abbas, tends to strengthen from 8.4 percent in March 2020 to 11.2 percent in December 2021.

"Gerindra tends to decline, from 13.6 percent in the March 2020 survey to 10.8 percent in December 2021," said Abbas.

This SMRC survey was conducted on 8-16 December 2021 through face-to-face or face-to-face interviews. The number of initial samples is 2420 randomly selected (multistage random sampling) from the entire Indonesian population who are at least 17 years old or married.
