Farts Smell Bad, Are They Healthy? Turns Out This Is The Cause

JAKARTA – Flatulence often causes frequent farts. Sometimes it doesn't make a sound, but it's often loud if it's not controlled. But what if the fart smells bad, is this a sign of a healthy body or vice versa?

A study reported by Healthline, Tuesday, December 28, one component of odor gas such as rotten eggs may mark your health. This research shows that hydrogen sulfide is what makes farts smell so bad that you have to cover your nose because you are disturbed by your own farts. But not to worry, farting basically lowers the risk of heart disease to kidney failure.

The above study was conducted in 2014 by a collaborative research team at the University of Exeter in the UK and the University of Texas. The research is based on the idea that mitochondria, the part of human cells that help produce energy. When cells in arteries and veins are damaged or stressed by certain conditions, they use the body's enzymes to make hydrogen sulfide.

The gas then allows cells to regulate oxidative stress, which is generally caused by inflammation. But when the condition is more severe, the mitochondria can't produce enough gas to compensate and the disease gets worse.

Things to worry about, when you often fart with a very strong smell. If the fart frequency is still normal and the smell is not too bothersome, it is still in a healthy level. But you need to see a doctor if you often fart with a foul odor followed by symptoms of severe cramps, very bloated stomach, body discomfort, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abnormal weight loss.

Well, there are suggestions to reduce the volume of gas and bloating so that it makes you fart and smells often. Do the following suggestions:

Eat slowly to reduce swallowing a lot of air that causes gas to build up in the intestines. Drink lots of water to reduce the risk of constipation, constipation can be the cause of smelly farts. Avoid drinking soft drinks because they contain carbon dioxide which can turn into gas in your intestines. Keep eating fibrous foods but reduce the amount for a while while farting starts to bother you, especially because of the smell. If you feel bloated but have a hard time farting, try some yoga poses that help expel gas in your stomach and make you more relaxed.

Have you ever experienced smelly farts that bother you? As much as possible, it is recommended to maintain etiquette so as not to disturb other people. For example, by staying away from crowds and farting in open spaces.
