DPR Member From PKS Suggests Trade Unions With Pertamina Need To Have A Dialogue: Strikes Can Create Upheaval In Society

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Mulyanto, stated that regarding the threat of a strike, the United Pertamina Workers Union Federation (FSPPB) and the management of PT Pertamina (Persero) should open the door to dialogue and compromise.

"Because if the threat is properly implemented, it is feared that it will cause wider turmoil among the community," said Mulyanto, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

Mulyanto asked the disputing parties to negotiate to find the best solution. For that, he said, the FSPBB and Pertamina must be open and objective in discussing the existing problems. Do not let the problems that occur expand into social problems.

"We urge Pertamina's Board of Directors to immediately open a dialogue and find solutions to the existing problems," he said.

Mulyanto assesses that the demands voiced by the FSPBB are workers' rights and need to be respected, therefore Pertamina must respond to these demands appropriately.

He reminded that the public's need for fuel is very large, so it is necessary to ensure that the supply of fuel to the wider community is not disrupted.

Mulyanto explained, based on the information he received, the point of this problem is that workers need transparency and good communication with the board of directors.

Previously, PT Pertamina (Persero) ensured that the agile working policy that had an impact on regulating the flexible working mechanism of Work From Home workers had not been determined by management, so that there would be no deductions from workers' salaries.

Pertamina Senior Vice President Human Capital Development Tajudin Noor said this information had been conveyed to all Pertamina employees through a circular letter dated December 13, 2021.

"Not a single worker has experienced a pay cut until now. All benefits received by workers are still running normally as before the pandemic," said Tajudin in a written statement.

Tajudin explained that his party is currently reviewing the agile working program, namely Pertamina Holding employees at the head office who are on duty and their work can be done from home.

According to him, this policy is in order to adapt to the post-COVID-19 pandemic. "This flexibility is given in order to provide comfort to workers by providing the option to choose a work pattern with a Work From Office (WFO) or Work From Home (WFH) mechanism which is expected to provide better performance," said Tajudin.
