The Perpetrator Who Chased The Mosque Marbot Using A Machete Because The WiFi Password Changed Was Arrested

MEDAN - As many as 3 men, who are said to be mosque administrators, were chased on CCTV while 2 youths were being chased with machetes. The footage was later uploaded and went viral on social media.

From the information gathered, the incident occurred at the Al Muslim Mosque, Jalan Cemara, East Medan District, Medan City, Friday, December 24. The incident was allegedly triggered, because the mosque administrator changed the WiFi password.

Knowing this, the police moved quickly and arrested the two men. The two men who were detained had the initials HM alias Didi (43) and IM (33) residents of Jalan Brigadier General Bejo, East Medan District. While the victim was named Muhammad Syahrial (26).

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Medan Police, Iptu Jefri Simamora, said the incident occurred on Friday, December 24. At that time, the two perpetrators went to the Al-Muslimin Mosque to use the internet network.

However, upon arrival at the location, the password for the internet network had been changed by the BKM Mosque administrator. Hearing this, the two perpetrators went to the mosque to buy internet packages.

"After buying an internet package, the two returned to the mosque and met the victim of the mosque guard," said Iptu Jefri, Monday, December 27

When meeting the mosque administrator, the two perpetrators then asked why the WiFi password at the Al-Muslimin Mosque was changed. The victim who was burning garbage, answered that the WiFi password was indeed changed by the mosque administrator.

"Not accepting the victim's words made the perpetrator HM go home and take a machete. Then the perpetrator HM returned to the mosque to try to kill the victim. But the action did not happen after the victim managed to save himself," he said.

Jefri said that the next day on Saturday, December 25, the victim, accompanied by a number of BKM Mosque administrators, made a complaint to the Medan Timur Police.

"From the results of the investigation, members were able to arrest the two perpetrators at their respective homes along with evidence of a machete," he said.

"For the actions of the two perpetrators, they face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison," said Jefri.
