Erick Thohir Wants Bali Not Only To Be Known For Tourism, But A Health Referral Center
GIANYAR - Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati or Cok Ace appreciated the presence of SOE Minister Erick Thohir at the Banjar Creative Space (BCS) event at Bale Banjar Taman Kelod, Ubud, Gianyar.
Cok Ace tells many things about the development of Gianyar, including looking at history, when the 9th century Rsi Markandya from Ubud spread the teachings of Panca Datu, Mpu Kuturan spread Tri Murthi understanding from Bedulu Village, Gianyar.
"Likewise, the center of the Majapahit kingdom in Bali is located in Gianyar. Even the agrarian Balinese leap to the tourism industry in the 1930s started from Ubud," said Cok Ace, Monday, December 27.
Cok Ace said, with the help of the Minister of SOEs, it is hoped that Gianyar will again become a pioneer of the digitalization movement in Bali. Cok Ace also explained that the Bali Provincial Government since 2018 has installed free WiFi in every village.
"Here again I invite the Yowana (young people) of Bali to continue to use this facility in a positive direction, especially later with the assistance of the Minister. I hope that Bali will not only appear in a traditional style, but also in a digital style," he said.
Meanwhile, SOE Minister Erick Tohir said that currently Indonesia was facing a test in the global arena, namely the pressure to open global markets, destruction towards digital and from a health perspective. Erick Thohir considers the pressure to be met by encouraging competitiveness in the international arena.
"It's not anti-foreign, not at all. But, yes, we must really prepare ourselves so that we can take part," he said.
Erick Thohir gave an example, nowadays many young people play games made by foreign countries. He hopes that one or two games that are loved by young people are now made by the nation's own children.
"So yes, once again we are not anti-foreign, but our very large market should not be used by the economic growth of other countries," he explained.
Therefore, according to Erick Thohir, Telkom or Telkomsel is expected to be one of the SOEs that can welcome the government's wishes.
"In the future, Telkom or Telkomsel must be able to provide WiFi that is easily accessible by the public. Not only that, the partisanship of telkom or telkomsel to content and games must also be improved," he explained.
Erick Thohir explained that his party had prepared various programs to encourage the Balinese economy. The G20 event is also expected to be able to encourage the rise of Bali.
"As for the health sector, this time President Joko Widodo is laying the groundwork for an international hospital in Denpasar. In the future, it is hoped that the hospital can become a reference for foreign tourists. So tourists are not only on cultural pleasures to Bali but also health tourism," said Erick Thohir.
