Joseph Suryadi Blasphemy Case Suspect Arrested

JAKARTA - The case of alleged blasphemy with the suspect Joseph Suryadi is still being processed by the police. Investigators decided to detain Joseph Suryadi for the first 20 days.

"It's been done, 20 days of detention," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Monday, December 27.

Joseph's detention began when he was arrested or named a suspect on December 15.

Zulpan emphasized that in that case his party did not find any obstacles. However, it does take time to handle it.

"There are no problems, he (Joseph, ed) admits his actions, supporting evidence, hidden cellphones are found in the warehouse, the group is also known," said Zulpan.

"But in that group the others didn't make sentences like him. He was just trying to provoke a group of friends, but the others didn't respond," continued Zulpan.

The alleged blasphemy case began when the hashtag #TangkapJosephSuryadi went viral on Twitter. The alleged blasphemy emerged after the Twitter account @NayoanAngelyca uploaded two photos. Where, one of the photos shows a picture of a man and a woman.

In the picture is written an inappropriate sentence about the religion of Islam and refers to the Prophet. This is considered blasphemy.

While the second photo shows a man with glasses. The man is referred to as Joseph Suryadi.
