PKB: NU Has Nothing To Do With The 2024 Presidential Election
JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) emphasized that the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization has nothing to do with practical politics. In particular, in the presidential election (Pilpres) in 2024. This was said by the Deputy Chairperson of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid in response to the absence of NU in the election contestation. "For NU, for PKB that politics or the president, vice president is a call from service. So it has nothing to do with NU as an organization with the presidential election," said Jazilul in the release of the PRC and PPI National Surveys entitled 'Political Outlook: Observing the Axis of the Coalition of Political Parties' , Monday, December 27. "But because NU or PKB are devoted to improving the people, when there is a regeneration process for national leadership, they are always called upon," he continued. The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR admitted that every political celebration there was always an NU nuance from each contesting figure.
"So every period there is always something that smells like NU and it's not officially part of the recommendations or work carried out by Nahdlatul Ulama," he explained. In which he also emphasized that NU would not actively play in the practical political contestation of the 2024 Presidential Election.
"That's why I understand what Gus Yahya said after being elected, this is a kind of purification in the context of the leadership organization at NU so that it doesn't focus on the affairs of the presidential election. That's organizationally. National leadership for NU and PKB is devotion," concluded Jazilul.
