Premium And Pertalite Abolished, What Is The Alternative To Cheap Fuel For The Community?

JAKARTA - The government is preparing a road map to divert Ron 88 or Premium gasoline and Ron 90 or Pertalite gasoline to fuel oil (BBM), which is more environmentally friendly, namely Pertamax Cs.

However, this regulation is still waiting for President Joko Widodo's approval through the ratification of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres). In response, Member of Commission VII DPR RI Mulyanto asked the government to carefully review the plan to abolish Premium and Pertalite fuel types.

Because according to the PKS politician, the elimination of the two fuels could further suppress the community's economy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Is it right to remove the premium?" said Mulyanto in his statement, Sunday, December 26.

The Banten legislator also advised the government not to follow the standards of other countries when removing Premium and Pertalite. For example, the government wants to follow the EURO 4 standard to keep the environment clean.

"Don't be talkative with other people's standards. Consider domestic efforts for the welfare of the people," said Mulyanto.

If it insists on eliminating premium and pertalite, according to him, the government needs to think about new cheap fuels that favor the people.

"If Premium is removed, what is the alternative for cheap fuel for the community," said Mulyanto.
