Disturbed Vocalist, David Draiman Loses Thousands Of Instagram Followers After Posting Photos In Israel

JAKARTA - Disturbed vocalist David Draiman has lost thousands of social media followers since publicizing his trip to Israel last month.

On November 30, Draiman lights candles at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, Israel in the Old City at the site of the attack that killed South African immigrant Eli Kay.

At the time, Draiman, who is Jewish, took to his Instagram to share several photos and included the following message: "Absolutely amazing experience. Thank you so much to everyone who attended!"

On Friday, Draiman returned to Instagram to lament the fact that thousands of his fans were apparently offended by his decision to share pro-Israel content on his page and unfollow him on the platform.

"This is something to think about. Prior to my recent trip to Israel, I haven't used my Instagram account since posting about Devide (his music project outside of Disturbed, ed). I have 87k followers. I use it again specifically to create trips and demonstrations I'm at the Western Wall.

"Since that photo of my trip and demonstration was posted, I now have 4K followers.

AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN IN HEART.

"Very accurate isn't it? #AmYisraelChai".

A week before his visit to Jerusalem, Draiman told The Jerusalem Post that he wanted to make a statement by coming to Israel after seeing coverage of an attack in which a Hamas gunman opened fire on pedestrians in the Old City.

"The coverage was despicable in most American and European media," Draiman said. "Scandal how they presented it. Headlines like 'Palestinians shot dead.' Well, why is a Palestinian shot dead? Because he carried out a terrorist attack. I like how the context is always reversed."
