Visit The Cathedral And GPIB Immanuel, Mahfud MD: Christmas Momentum Reaffirms Life In Diversity
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD conveyed an important message ahead of the Christmas celebration, namely a message of peace, mutual respect, and respect.
"This Christmas momentum reaffirms the life of the nation and state which is protected by the constitution based on the Pancasila ideology. We live in unity in diversity. That means peace helps each other and helps each other," said Mahfud after a visit to the cathedral and Protestant churches in western Indonesia. According to him, any religion if its teachings are implemented properly will lead to goodness. Because religion was born for the good of mankind.
"Spread goodness, because the essence of religion is goodness and it bears increasing tolerance in acceptance in action," said Mahfud in a press release.
During this visit, Coordinating Minister Mahfud was accompanied by the Commander of the Brimob Police Corps Inspector General Pol Anang Revandoko and the ranks of the Deputy Ministers of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
At the Cathedral Church, the Coordinating Minister was received directly by the Chair of the Indonesian Bishops' Commission (KWI) who is also the Archbishop of Jakarta, Father Cardinal Mgr. Ignatius Suharyo and at GPIB Immanuel were received by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Church Association (PGI) Reverend Gomar Gultom and PGI Secretary Reverend Jack Manuputy.
The arrival of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is to ensure that preparations for the Christmas celebrations run smoothly.
"I want to see about the preparations, whether there are disturbances or obstacles to carrying out worship, Alhamdullilah, everything has gone well so far," said Mahfud.
Mahfud emphasized that in the life of the nation, it is not only tolerance that needs to be built, but also acceptance.
This acceptance is not only understanding about differences, but also accepting to work together for mutual progress, he said.
"That is the message of all religions, any religion is the message. Merry Christmas to Christians who celebrate it, starting tonight until tomorrow," said Mahfud.
