Surabaya Prosecutor's Office Arrests Fugitives In A Fraud Case Of IDR 2.5 Billion In Sidoarjo
SURABAYA - The Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur), a combination of the General Criminal Section and the Surabaya Attorney's Intelligence Section, finally succeeded in arresting Anita Wijaya in Sidoarjo, East Java. Anita is a fugitive convicted of fraud on insurance customer data amounting to Rp. 2.5 billion.
"Yes, that's right, the suspect was arrested last night in Sidoarjo," said Kasi Intel Kejari Surabaya, Khristiya Lutfiasandhi, confirmed, Friday, December 24.
Khriatiya said the team obtained information on the whereabouts of the convict at his parents' house in Sidoarjo. After being reported to Kajari Surabaya, the team moved to the location in question, but the convict had already changed locations.
"The team went to the house of the convict's parents, but it turned out that they had moved. And the team returned to search around the location," he said.
The team's search efforts paid off. About two hours of combing around the location, the convict was found hiding in a relative's house in the Prohibition Housing Mega Asri Sidoarjo.
"The convict was not cooperative by locking the door from the inside. The team then took the initiative to cut off the electricity to the house. So finally the convict gave up after waiting for some time and was immediately taken to the Class 1 Surabaya Lapas in Porong to serve a corporal sentence for 2 (two) years according to the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. 661/K/Pid/2021," he said.
Previously, Anita Wijaya was reported by Tho Ratna Listiyani for being a victim of insurance customer data fraud worth 2.5 billion with the convict mode of providing data on HSBC customers at the Manyar branch and looking for insurance customers with a target of 30 billion.
However, previously the convict asked the victim to give Rp. 2.5 billion to pay off debts, buy a car and personal needs.
After the victim gave the money, it turned out that the convict could not reach the target of the insurance customer so that the victim felt aggrieved and reported it to the police.
