6 Thieves Of Installation Cable Reel And Material Store In Cirebon Arrested
CIREBON - The Cirebon City Police (Polresta), West Java, arrested six perpetrators of theft with weights from two cases that were successfully revealed. The police also confiscated some evidence.
"We have revealed two cases of theft by weight, with six suspects," said Cirebon Police Chief Kombes Arif Budiman, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 24.
The six suspects had the initials MF (36), IS (27), FR (29), AS (40), SP (28), and AN (31). They are two different groups that have been proven to have committed crimes within the jurisdiction of the Cirebon Police.
Arif said that the suspects with the initials MF, IS, and FR were involved in the theft of cables from the Watubelah Sports Stadium installation on Wednesday, December 17 at around 02.00 WIB and this group came from outside the area who acted in Cirebon Regency.
"The suspects departed from Tangerang and stole the copper cable that was in the installation box by cutting it using special scissors, then coiling and tying it using a rope that had been prepared," he said.
The action of the three suspects was caught by the night guard, and immediately reported it to the Sumber Polsek, Cirebon Police. The officer who received the report came to the scene and found nine rolls of installation cables.
The suspects fled when they saw officers arriving at the scene. In fact, the chase between the Sumber Polsek officers and the perpetrators was inevitable.
"Our officers managed to secure them just as they were about to climb the fence. We also took firm and measured action against the suspect with the initials FR for ignoring the warnings from the officers. In fact, the officers had given warnings many times from the start of the pursuit," he said.
From the three suspects, continued Arif, officers secured evidence in the form of nine coils of copper cable 100 meters long, scissors, pliers, saws, cutters, and others. They were also charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code and were threatened with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.
Meanwhile, the suspects, AS, SP, and AN were involved in the theft by weighting at a building shop located in Weru District, Cirebon Regency, on Thursday, December 9 at around 20.30 WIB.
Their actions were caught by officers who were on regular patrols in order to maintain the conduciveness of the area. At that time, they were successfully secured to the Cirebon Police Headquarters for further questioning.
"From the results of the provisional examination, the suspects admitted that they had acted eight times in the Cirebon Regency area from October to December 2021," he said.
There was also evidence that was secured including a car, screwdriver, bag, sack, drill, and others. All three were charged with Article 363 in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code and were threatened with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.
