Armed With Long Barrels, Joint Drug Raid Officers In 5 Discotheques In Palembang Region, Secure Hundreds Of People

PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Police along with a joint apparatus of the TNI and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency have detained hundreds of visitors from a number of discotheques in Palembang for allegedly taking drugs this morning.

Director of the Directorate of Drug Investigation at the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Heri Istu Hariono, said that the visitors were detained by joint forces in a series of drug operations from five medium to high-end discotheques in Palembang.

Two of them are RD Cafe on Soekarno Hatta Street, Alang-alang Lebar District and SL Cafe on Veteran Street, Ilir Timur II District.

"There were hundreds of people who were caught as a result of sweeping from five nightclubs (discotics), including the Celebrity Cafe and RD related to drug abuse," he explained at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters, Palembang, Antara, Friday, December 24.

According to him, hundreds of visitors to the discotheque are still being investigated by investigators at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters and the South Sumatra BNNP. He has not been able to inform in detail the number of visitors who are positive for drugs and the types of drugs they use, including drug evidence.

"The number of visitors who have tested positive for drugs has not yet been received. They are still being examined with the BNNP. The full details will be announced this morning," he said.

Meanwhile, based on observations at the location, in the drug operation there were more than 300 joint officers deployed. All in full uniform with long guns.

They moved simultaneously to spread to every discotheque in Palembang which was allegedly full of drug abuse. This operation starts from Thursday, December 23 at 11.30 WIB until Friday morning, at 04.15 WIB.

Including in the SL discotheque, there is no room that escapes inspection in the operation. One by one the visitors were tested for urine by the joint apparatus.

At the South Sumatra Police headquarters there were several visitors who were secured, three of them women. They underwent an examination for allegedly using ecstasy drugs as the results of a urine test obtained by the police.
