BI Boss Perry Warjiyo Reveals Shocking Fact: Jakarta's Economy Plays A Significant Role In Affecting Sumatra To Papua Region
JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo firmly stated that DKI Jakarta is the economic and financial center in Indonesia. According to him, Jakarta has a strategic role in the national economy.
"This can be seen from the magnitude of Jakarta's household consumption in influencing the output of other regions, such as Java by 21 percent, Kalimantan 6 percent, Sumatra 5 percent, to Nusa Tenggara and Sulampua (Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua) with 4 percent each. ” he said in a webinar on Friday, December 24.
Perry added that the capital city area is also considered to have played a major role in boosting the financial sector in the country.
“Outstanding credit in Jakarta reaches 29 percent of all national loans. Not only that, the number of deposits from the people of Jakarta is recorded as contributing 49 percent of all deposits at financial service institutions," he said.
Furthermore, the BI boss also informed that the payment system in Jakarta was the largest contributor to non-cash transactions with 61 percent until the third quarter of 2021. This figure increased from the book at the end of 2020 which was 60 percent.
"The number of QRIS users in Jakarta is also very large with a record of 18.8 percent of the total 2.6 million mechants," concluded Perry Warjiyo.
