Guardiola Confirms Ferran Torres Joins Barcelona

JAKARTA - Manchester City coach, Josep Guardiola confirmed the news that one of his foster children, Ferran Torres would be close to Barcelona. Guardiola also said that only one more step for Barca to bring Torres.

"It has not been officially completed (Ferran's transfer to Barcelona), but I know they (Manchester City and Barca) are negotiating. The deal is close. When the club announced it was done," Guardiola said as quoted by Tribal Football, Friday , December 24.

As is known, previously a number of well-known British and Spanish media widely said Manchester City had agreed to release Ferran Torres to Barcelona. The player is priced at 55 million euros or around Rp.882 billion for the January 2022 transfer market.

Regarding the transfer of Ferran Torres to Barcelona, Fabrizio Romano as a European transfer expert has also provided news about Guardiola agreeing to release the player.

Romano said in his tweet on Twitter, The Citizens were also reluctant to make things difficult for the player by keeping him at the club. Because, Torres asked to move closer to Spain and for City the happiness of the players is a top priority.

Furthermore, Guardiola, who is a former Barcelona player and coach, later confirmed that Manchester City had no plans to recruit a substitute striker for Torres in the January transfer window.

Manchester City actually only recruited Torres from Valencia in August 2020, where the versatile 21-year-old striker signed a five-year contract for a transfer value of 23 million euros.

During his time at Manchester City, Torres has played 43 times across the competition and scored 16 goals. While at international level, the player has packed 22 caps with the Spanish national team and scored 12 goals.
