Joe Goldberg's New Life In The Second Season Of YOU

JAKARTA - The YOU television series will release its second season today via streaming service Netflix. The success of the series, which was broadcast on the Lifetime television channel, now continues on Netflix.

In its first season, we are introduced to the character of Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, a librarian who falls in love with writer Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail). Goldberg uses various attempts to approach Beck, including following Beck's day-to-day. This venture turned into a stalking and delusional activity for Goldberg.

For 20 episodes, the audience is incensed by Joe Goldberg's small (but compelling) attempts to make Beck fall in love with him. No doubt, this intense story made YOU watched by more than 40 million people on the Netflix app and beat the number of views on television stations.

On the other hand, the series has come under fire from viewers who think it glorifies serial killers and stalkers. Especially Goldberg's stalking and delusional efforts.

Penn Badgley, who played Joe Goldberg, had responded to several negative comments on his personal Twitter account regarding the YOU series. The actor who also plays in the Gossip Girl series refuses to romanticize the actions of a psychopathic killer.

The same thing was conveyed, the main character in the second season of YOU, Victoria Pedretti. Reported by Variety, Victoria does not want the audience to worry about the impressions and stories presented in the YOU series.

“These kinds of things affect everyone, but obviously that's what the focus of this event is. I think it's a warning to some, "he said in one interview.

Pedretti feels that this series opens a discussion about a personal relationship and a person's personal character towards their partner. The cast also insists the series isn't trying to chlorify anything, be it an attempt at stalking or stalking someone it likes.

Through this second season, the YOU series tells of Joe Goldberg trying to escape from his past on a trip to Los Angeles. Goldberg tries to change his life and meet someone new, Love Quinn.

In the main trailer, Joe Goldberg has changed his name to Will Bettelheim. Bettelheim's life is not entirely new and exciting, because his past is ready to come back to haunt him. The horror of the trailer is also accompanied by the song Creep sung by Michelle Branch.

The psychological-thriller YOU series is based on the novel Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes which will run for 10 episodes. The second season will officially air today, December 26 on Netflix worldwide.
