Khofifah Asks East Java Residents To Limit Mobility For Christmas And New Year Holidays
SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa appealed to the public to limit mobility ahead of the holiday period in the framework of Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022.
"I ask that all residents of East Java can still minimize their mobility. Because last year's experience was that when there was a holiday period, 14 days later there tended to be a spike," said Khofifah in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 23.
The appeal, he said, was followed by several concrete efforts in the transportation and tourism sectors to anticipate the entry of a third wave, especially the new variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Not only urging the public, Governor Khofifah explained that concrete steps were needed to anticipate the entry of the new virus.
One of them, he said, is to carry out surveillance and supervision through service posts and security in the transportation, tourism and other public places.
"The East Java Provincial Transportation Service has carried out mapping, starting with land, sea and air routes. Including thickening officers during Candle Operations and checking at several points that have been planned by the East Java Transportation Service with the East Java Police," he said.
Khofifah explained several strategies to limit people's mobility at the end of the year, namely random inspection of travel requirements documents including full-dose vaccine cards, negative antigen test results and the application of the PeduliLindung application.
"The document requirements for Domestic Travelers (PPDN) are still being checked in accordance with SE Task Force Number 22 of 2021 using public transportation modes, both land, sea and air," he said.
Then, the regulation of the movement of private vehicles and motorbikes with the application of odd-even on the Motorized Vehicle Number (TNKB) is carried out situationally.
Next, continued Khofifah, there will be no restrictions on the operation of goods transport or conditional in nature.
Then, the number of passengers transported for public transportation is a maximum of 75 percent of the capacity, and there is no isolation post but a vaccine and antigen service post.
"Random checks will be carried out at 50 service posts throughout East Java and at seven service posts in the Toll Road rest area. At the service post, vaccine and antigen services are also available," he said.
