JAKARTA - Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds that hit the Central Jakarta area caused a number of trees to fall at several points in the Central Jakarta area, such as in Cikini, Senen, Menteng, and Tanah Abang.
Head of the Central Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-dept., Mila Ananda, said that as many as 9 medium-large sized trees had broken branches (splinters) and fell due to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
"First, on Jalan Cikini Raya, a Tabebuya tree with a diameter of 5 centimeters broke a twig. And now its condition has been completed by the Other Service Providers for Individual Trees (PJLP) together with Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers, Central Jakarta," said Mila when contacted by VOI, Thursday, December 23, evening.
Furthermore, near the Military District Command (Koramil) Taman Menteng. A Sengon tree with a trunk diameter of about 25 centimeters was also reported to have broken branches. And now it has also been handled by Central Jakarta Tree PJLP officers.

On Jalan Sungai Gerong, Tanah Abang Sub-district, an Asemkranji tree with a trunk diameter of 10 centimeters was reported to have broken a branch. And now his condition has been handled by Central Jakarta tree PJLP officers.
"On Jalan Purification, Tanah Abang Sub-district, a banyan tree with a trunk diameter of about 15 centimeters was also reported to have broken a branch. It has now been handled by Central Jakarta Tree PJLP officers," said Mila.
A fallen tree also occurred on Student Army Street, Tanah Abang District. A rubber tree with a diameter of about 45 centimeters was reported to have fallen on the power cable and broke.
Then the Bintaro tree with a trunk diameter of about 25 centimeters on Jalan KH. Mas Mansyur, Tanah Abang Sub-district, was also reported to have fallen on a car that was parked under it, causing the hood to be damaged.
"The type of tree is not yet known with a trunk diameter of about 35 centimeters on Jalan TPU Petamburan, Tanah Abang Sub-district also fell. Then the Randu tree on Jalan Citarum Flood Kanal Barat (BKB), Tanah Abang Sub-district with a trunk diameter of 35 centimeters fell," he said.
A fallen tree at this location hit a power pole, and caused the pole to collapse and cut power lines in the area.
