KAI Yogyakarta: Year-end Holiday Ticket Reservation Reaches 4,000 Per Day
YOGYAKARTA - PT KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta noted that train ticket reservations during the Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays reached around 4,000 per day and are expected to continue to increase like last week's conditions.
"The ticket reservation record per day has not reached half of the average number of passengers using the train at the end of last week. We hope that there will still be an increase in passengers," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Operational Area (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta Supriyanto in Yogyakarta. quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 23.
According to him, reservations for train passengers for departures on Friday, December 24, were recorded at around 3,000 people and the highest reservation occurred for departures for Sunday, December 26, which was around 4,300 passengers.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers who used the train mode of transportation on December 17-23 was quite large and even returned to normal conditions, namely around 13,000 passengers per day.
"Maybe people are still waiting whether there will be another rule change or not, so they buy tickets closer to the day of departure," he said.
The application of health protocol rules for passenger children aged 12 years and under, he continued, was also one of the aspects that customers took into consideration.
According to the SE of the Ministry of Transportation Number 112 of 2021, passenger children under the age of 12 are required to include a negative PCR result.
"We provide PCR services at a price of Rp. 195,000 at a number of stations. Hopefully, it can encourage people to continue using the train mode during the year-end holidays," he said.
Until now, Supriyanto said that no prospective passengers had canceled ticket reservations due to the new rules for traveling by train.
Most of the passengers, continued Supriyanto, ordered tickets for departure to Jakarta. "About 70 percent booked tickets to Jakarta, the rest went to other destinations such as Bandung and Surabaya," he said.
Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Giwangan Terminal Service Officer Evak Nurwahid said the trend of increasing passengers using the bus transportation mode for year-end holiday trips began to be seen last weekend.
"Starting on the evening of December 17, there has been an increase in passengers compared to normal days. From around 3,000 passengers per day to around 4,000 to 4,700 passengers per day," he said.
The number of passengers is expected to continue to increase, especially on weekends, although the increase will not be too significant, at five percent.
"Although there is an increase in the number of passengers, the number of buses entering Giwangan does not increase, which is around 350-400 buses per day," he said.
Meanwhile, the travel regulations, which are complete vaccinations and negative antigen results, are still applicable for long-distance buses that travel more than five hours.
"For passengers to Surabaya and Jakarta, the results of antigen and vaccine will be checked. Meanwhile, for other destinations such as Purwokerto or Cilacap, only sampling is done," he said.
