Donation Of 1.5 Million Doses Of Moderna Vaccine From The Netherlands Arrives In Indonesia

JAKARTA - A total of 1.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine donated from the Netherlands arrived in Indonesia today.

Director General of Information and Public Communication (IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong said the vaccine that arrived was a Dutch donation through COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access). Previously, the Dutch government also donated 819,600 doses of Moderna vaccine last October and 680,400 doses.

Not only Moderna, the Netherlands has also donated 657 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. "For this vaccine donation, the Indonesian government would like to thank the Dutch government," said Usman in a press release, Antara, Thursday, December 24.

According to him, this grant is a tangible manifestation of the good and close relationship between Indonesia and the Netherlands, as well as proof of the commitment of the two countries to work hand in hand in handling COVID-19 in the world.

In the country, continued Usman, Indonesia continues to intensify the national vaccination program, to remote villages.

"The central government encourages regions to continue to accelerate and expand vaccination for their citizens. It is also assisted by a number of agencies, such as the TNI and Polri," he said.

Usman said that in some areas, hoaxes played a role in slowing down vaccination. People are made afraid and worried about the effects of vaccination, which are exaggerated and exaggerated.

"Once again, the government confirms that all the COVID-19 vaccines used are safe and efficacious, and have received permission from the POM Agency," he said.

On the other hand, Usman added that increased vigilance was also carried out in line with the emergence of cases of the Omicron variant in various countries.
