Joe Biden Officially Becomes US Democratic Candidate: Promises To Clean Up

JAKARTA - The Democratic Party has officially selected Joe Biden as a presidential candidate for the United States (US). The party vows that its election will fix the US hit by the pandemic COVID-19 and fix the chaos created by President Donald Trump's administration.

Previously, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Democratic presidential candidate election convention was held virtually in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. No cheers as usual.

According to the Biden campaign team, the number of viewers for the convention via TV has decreased compared to 2016. However, there are an additional 10.2 million viewers on digital platforms.

On the second night, the event raised the theme "Leadership Issues." They feature senior statesmen such as former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, rising Democrats and Republican figures who claim to be on Biden's side. They hope that if Joe Biden is elected, he can restore the integrity of the White House and the normal lives of Americans.

Meanwhile Biden's wife, Jill Biden, delivers a speech from a Delaware high school where she once taught. He shares an emotional story about how his love for Biden recovered after his first wife and baby daughter were killed in a car accident.

“I never imagined that at 26 I would ask myself: how do you make a broken family come together? With love and understanding, "said Jill.

"If we entrust this nation to Joe, he will do for your family what he did for us: unite us and make us whole," said Jill.

Throughout the night, Democrats compared Joe Biden's long experience to what they described as Trump's mishandling of the outbreak. They also accused Trump of being willing to commit corruption in democratic institutions.

"Only one thing has never changed. His (Trump) determination to deny responsibility and shift blame," said Bill Clinton.

At the four-day convention, delegates from across the country voted remotely in support of Biden as the presidential candidate. The adoption of Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential candidate also attracted rave reviews on social media.

Through a video clip showing the diversity of parties, Democrats also reveal their reasons for supporting Biden. The video features footage of people from various states from Rhode Island to Montana.

After hearing from his home state of Delaware, Biden showed up with Jill Biden. They thanked the Democrats for nominating him.

Aiming to grab the attention of Biden, Trump, who is following the poll, held a campaign rally in Arizona. The region is a battleground for the decisive vote in elections.

Trump called Biden's immigration plans radical and extreme. He continued his efforts to portray Biden as a puppet of left-wing agitators.

In a statement, Trump's campaign spokesman, Tim Murtaugh, said Joe Biden's candidacy affirmed the party's radical stance. According to Martaugh, this meant that his party's watchdogs from the radical left were officially responsible.

The Republican National Convention, which will also be held virtually, will take place next week. Trump will give his acceptance speech at the White House, despite criticism that he is politicizing the presidential residence.
