Yenny Wahid: PBNU Chairman Candidate Said Aqil-Gus Yahya Have Closeness To Gus Dur

BANDARLAMPUNG - Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh or Yenny Wahid said the two strongest candidates for the General Chair of PBNU, namely KH Aqil Said Siroj and KH Yahya Cholil Staquf were close to Gus Dur.

"I am grateful that the two strongest candidates both have a close relationship with Gus Dur in thought," he said in Central Lampung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

Yenny Wahid said both of them were indeed Gus Dur's students and had the ability to articulate and translate Gus Dur's ideas in the context of today's modern civilization.

"So for me and my family, this is something to be proud of and hopefully it can bring goodness to Muslims in Indonesia and the world," he said.

Regarding the alternative candidates that appeared at this congress, Yenny Wahid admitted that he had heard about it. But everything will be left to the muktamirin.

"But I think the track records of the candidates for the PBNU chairmanship are well known to the congress participants. God willing, if all are intended for NU and serve the interests of the people, everything will go well," said Yenny Wahid.

He was grateful that the congress had gone well even though there were limitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"However, we can see here that there is enthusiasm or enthusiasm from the congress who took the time to attend the congress in Lampung. Of course I also ask for prayers to the Indonesian people so that this congress goes well," he said.
