China And Egypt Dominate The 2021 TEI-DE Event, Trade Minister Lutfi: The Achievement Of Total Transactions Of 6.06 Billion US Dollars Is Enchanting
JAKARTA - Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi said he was proud of the achievement of the 36th Digital Edition of Trade Expo Indonesia. Since opening last October, TEI-DE2021 has managed to record transactions of 6.06 billion US dollars. China and Egypt dominate transactions.
"This achievement is very encouraging because it exceeds the previously set transaction target of 1.5 billion US dollars," he said in a written statement, Wednesday, December 22.
From this achievement, the total transaction value of overseas buyers was recorded at 3.54 billion US dollars. Buyers with the largest transaction values came from five countries, namely China with a transaction value of 1.68 billion US dollars, or 27.8 percent, and Egypt with 560.2 million dollars, or the equivalent of 9.24 percent.
Then, Brazil amounted to 285.8 million US dollars or 4.71 percent, Japan at 252.6 million US dollars or 4.17 percent, and India at 204.3 million US dollars or 3.37 percent.
Lutfi said the products that succeeded in attracting foreign buyers at TEI-DE 2021 were agricultural products with a value of 792 million US dollars (13.06 percent), chemical products of 316.7 million US dollars (5.22 percent), palm oil amounted to US$ 307.8 million (5.08 percent), herbal products and supplements amounted to US$ 300 million (4.95 percent), and processed paper and paper products amounted to US$ 298 million (4.92 percent).
Until the last day of its implementation, said Lutfi, TEI-DE 2021 had been visited by 32,030 visitors with a total registrant of 8,220 buyers from 136 countries, consisting of 3,721 foreign buyers and 4,499 local buyers.
Meanwhile, the five countries with the highest number of buyers at this year's TEI-DE event are India, China, Malaysia, Brazil, and Egypt. This is inseparable from the role of foreign Trade Representatives who actively promote TEI-DE through assisting buyers in finding Indonesian products, opening help desks, and holding business meetings.
This year's TEI-DE exhibition was attended by 834 exhibitors divided into eight product categories, namely manufactured products; digital lifestyle & services; medical & healthcare; renewable energy; food & beverage products; living comfort & amenities; fashion & beauty products; and halal products.
"Participants are expected to continue to follow up on trade contacts that occurred during TEI-DE. In addition, foreign trade representatives will also continue to oversee the follow-up to the cooperation between the exhibitors and buyers," he said.
During the TEI-DE 2021 implementation, several forum activities have also been carried out, namely the Trade Tourism & Investment Forum (TTI), Halal Trade Forum, business forum, and business counseling. In addition, there were also 107 signings of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) involving exporters and buyers from 17 countries.
Another activity that is no less important is exploring a business that is able to generate transactions of US$2.521 billion with buyers from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, which is focused on skilled and professional workers.
Next, the Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) event which was held at the Aquatic Stadium Gelora Bung Karno Senayan, Jakarta.
"The success of the TEI-DE implementation is certainly the result of cooperation with various parties. For this reason, we hope that the cooperation that has been established so far can continue to be improved in the coming year," concluded Lutfi.
