DPR: Reducing The Examination Process And Waiting Time For PCR Results Can Help Break Long Queues, Quarantine Is More Effective

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX Rahmad Handoyo welcomed the government's steps to speed up the examination process and reduce the waiting time for PCR test results for foreign travelers.

"This is very helpful and breaks up long queues, both at the airport, then the sea port, then the land border," said Rahmad Handoyo to reporters, Wednesday, December 22.

The Central Java electoral district legislator revealed that there had been many complaints from Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals who arrived in Indonesia from abroad regarding the waiting time for PCR results.

"I think this is a positive step that we welcome," explained Rahmad.

According to the PDIP politician, accelerating the process and waiting for the results of the PCR test to make the quarantine process more effective. Because, there is no accumulation at the entrance of the country.

"Thanks to the government by shortening the waiting time process, because one of the long waiting times is waiting for the PCR results. That way the quarantine process will also be more effective in terms of time," said Rahmad.

Previously, the Government would increase the number of security officers during the Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 (Nataru) periods. They will be placed in points that have the potential for crowds, such as shopping centers, tourist attractions, toll roads, churches, or houses of worship.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy also said the government would cut the waiting time for PCR results at entrances from abroad, both in the air, sea, and land sectors. This is to prevent buildup.

"Relevant ministries and institutions will speed up the inspection process and reduce the waiting time for PCR results at the entrances. So that there is no accumulation of foreign travelers or PPLN at the entrances. Be it land, sea, or air," said Muhadjir at the meeting. press, Tuesday, December 21.

Muhadjir also appealed to the public to refrain from traveling abroad if there was no urgent matter.

Because, if you are still determined to go abroad in the middle of the Omicron variant, then when you arrive in Indonesia, you can potentially be quarantined for a longer period of 14 days.

"Instead of being quarantined for 14 days, it's better to postpone going out of the country first, especially if leaving the country is not very urgent," he said.
