MAKI Asks AGO To Examine Stepanus 'Case Broker', Look For The Role Of Other Parties Including Arief Aceh
JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman asked the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) to examine the former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Stepanus Robin Pattuju.
This request is to investigate the alleged receipt of bribes for the management of a number of cases at the KPK which allegedly dragged the name of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar. In that case, Stepanus sits as a defendant with a lawyer, Maskur Husain.
"I urge the Attorney General's Office to ask for information from Robin Pattuju to explore who Robin Pattuju is referring to, for example regarding Arief Aceh," Boyamin told reporters, Tuesday, December 21.
The deepening of Arief's role, continued Boyamin, needs to be done to make his role clearer in this case. Moreover, this process was deemed necessary after he reported the alleged bribery case to the Attorney General's Office.
"That's what I did. The Attorney General's Office immediately followed up by summoning or asking for information from Stepanus Robin Pattuju. At the KPK it was a bit difficult because it involved the KPK leadership," he said.
"Or at least it is the lawyer who needs to be clarified so that a bright spot can be found. If there is evidence, then it is developed for investigation," added Boyamin.
For information, MAKI some time ago reported Lili's alleged involvement in handling the case of former Tanjung Balai Mayor M Syahrial. The report was submitted to the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
As previously reported, Stepanus, who is a case broker at the KPK, often mentions the involvement of Lili Pintauli and a lawyer named Arief Aceh. As for the participation of the former Deputy Chairperson of the LPSK in the bribery case in handling this case, the KPK Supervisory Board has imposed severe sanctions some time ago.
