Next Year, Microsoft Will Stop Internet Explorer Services
JAKARTA - Microsoft will discontinue support and services for Internet Explorer. The legendary browser, made by Microsoft, is scheduled to stop operating next year.
Quoting the official Microsoft blog, the end of support for Internet Explorer will be carried out gradually. Given that a number of websites and applications still use Microsoft's browser page.
The service migration will start from the Microsoft Teams platform, on 30 November. The Microsoft Office 365 application continues, which will stop its support for Internet Explorer version 11, until finally the service will no longer operate on August 17, 2021.
At the same time, Microsoft will replace the Internet Explorer 11 browser with Microsoft Edge which was introduced in 2015. This latest Microsoft browser is based on the Chromium software which Google also uses for the Google Chrome browser.
Indeed, Microsoft's attempts to stop the operation of the Internet Explorer browser have been carried out in recent years. Where Microsoft started replacing Internet Explorer versions 8, 9, 10 since 2016.
On the other hand, the move of Microsoft's browser from Internet Explorer to Chromium-based software has major consequences for the future of the open internet. The reason is, the base Chromium is currently the basis of other software, such as Brave, Vivaldi, Avast Secure Browser, and Opera.
