Developing Coastal Tourism, Eri Cahyadi's Strategy To Restore The Economy Of Surabaya Residents
SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government is focusing on developing coastal tourism areas to attract tourists. The goal is to restore the economy of the City of Heroes in the midst of a pandemic.
One of the tourist attractions that is the main target of the Surabaya City Government is Romokalisari coastal tourism, namely developing boat tourism. For the time being, Surabaya provided assistance with four boats to fishermen working in the Romokalisari coastal tourist area.
"But later what will be given to fishermen in Romokalisari is a total of seven boats. With the help of this boat, it is hoped that it can be used to earn a living. Apart from being a means of earning a living at sea, it can also be used as a means of boat tourism," said the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, in Surabaya, Tuesday, December 21.
In developing tourism in the coastal area of Romokalisari, Eri Cahyadi said the city government did not run alone. Later, he will coordinate with Forkopimda Surabaya, and universities to develop labor-intensive and economic development in this region.
In addition to boat tours, Eri Cahyadi plans to have other interesting facilities in 2022. Among them are Jet Ski tours, horse riding tours to culinary tours available on the Romokalisari coast.
"For jet skis coming soon (will come) in January 2022. The Romokalisari coastal tourist area has a good view. If the night gets better, culinary tours are organized (at night it is better to make culinary tours)," he said.
In addition to Romokalisari coastal tourism, Eri Cahyadi admitted that he would focus on developing the Sontoh Laut tourist area. The plan is that in 2022, the coastal tourist areas of Romokalisari and Sontoh Laut will become new tourist destinations in the city of Surabaya.
Eri Cahyadi is optimistic that the existence of various tourist facilities in coastal tourism can boost the income economy of the residents in the vicinity. Especially for the families of fishermen who work in this tourist area.
"Our target is that each family head can earn IDR 7 million. So with this Romokalisari coastal tourism, the income of these fishermen can grow. Because later there will be selling food, drinks, and other tourism support, because this coastal view can be sold later," he said.
