Supporting Anies Revision Of UMP Increase, Gerindra: It's Passed Justice Considerations

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik supports the decision of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to revise the amount of the increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2022.

Anies changed the UMP increase from 0.85 percent to 5.1 percent. In 2021, DKI's UMP is IDR 4,416,186. If it increases by 0.85 percent or Rp. 37,749, the 2022 UMP will become Rp. 4,453,935. Then, when Anies raises 5.1 percent or Rp. 225,667, the UMP for DKI next year will be Rp. 4,641,854.

Taufik views that Anies' decision to revise the UMP increase must have passed considerations based on justice for all parties.

"When the governor of DKI decided the increase, I thought we had missed considerations, justice for workers, justice for entrepreneurs," Taufik told reporters, Tuesday, December 21.

Moreover, according to Taufik, the revised higher UMP increase is in accordance with Jakarta's economic conditions during the pandemic, which began to improve compared to last year.

Taufik believes that Anies decided to increase the UMP based on a complete study and data, so that it does not harm other parties related to this wage decision.

"It's impossible for the DKI Government to do or stipulate something without a basis. Rest assured DKI will determine it based on data. It's impossible to suddenly change things up," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan revised the increase in the Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2022 from 0.85 percent initially to 5.1 percent.

The decision to increase the UMP was taken from two aspects. First, a Bank Indonesia study which states that Indonesia's economic growth projection in 2022 will reach 4.7 percent to 5.5 percent and inflation will be controlled at 3 percent.

Second, this decision is based on a review and re-discussion with all relevant stakeholders.

The increase in the amount of the UMP was also carried out after Anies' efforts had previously sent a letter to the Indonesian Minister of Manpower regarding the Proposal to Review the 2022 Provincial Minimum Wage Determination Formula (UMP).
