TNI-Polri Officials Check Church Health And Security Protocols In Jember Ahead Of Christmas

JEMBER - Members of the TNI and Polri carried out security checks and health protocols in several churches ahead of the 2021 Christmas celebration in Jember Regency, East Java.

"Our activity is to check the church's readiness for Christmas celebrations and ensure that health protocols are implemented in churches in accordance with the Ministry of Home Affairs Number 67 of 2021," said Head of Operations Section (Head of Ops) of the Jember Police Kompol M. According to him, checking the readiness of the church for Christmas celebrations, especially the health protocol facilities, including the availability of temperature checking devices, PeduliLindung applications, and directions for the congregation while in the church.

"We urge the church to limit the number of congregations who attend the Christmas celebration, the congregation in the church is limited to only 50 percent because it is still in the COVID-19 pandemic situation," he said.

Regarding the security and order situation ahead of the 2021 Christmas Mass in Jember Regency so far it is safe and conducive, but the police continue to carry out patrols to ensure that Christian places of worship are truly safe for worship during Christmas celebrations.

Meanwhile, Puger Police Chief AKP Ribut Budiyono said his party was ready to carry out Christmas security at several churches in the Puger District, Jember Regency.

"Security activities are to create a conducive situation during worship activities and provide a sense of security and comfort for Christians in carrying out Christmas celebrations," he said.

In addition, he continued, the TNI-Polri will continue to urge and remind congregants who attend Christmas celebrations at churches to adhere to health protocols properly.

"Security and monitoring from members of the Puger Sector Police and the Koramil are intensified to ensure there are no disturbances in the social security and order in the series of Christmas and New Year 2022 activities in Puger District," he said.

The TNI-Polri will carry out sterilization or sweeping in churches to ensure that Christian places of worship are truly safe for worship on Christmas Day 2021.
