The Government Adds England, Norway, And Denmark To The List Of Foreigners Banned From Entering Indonesia
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government added a number of countries whose citizens were prohibited from entering Indonesia due to the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Previously, the government had banned foreigners from 11 countries from entering Indonesia due to the findings of the Omicron case in that country. Now, the government adds three countries.
"Following developments, the government will add more countries to the UK (UK), Norway and Denmark, taking into account the rapid spread of Omicron cases in the three countries," Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, December 20.
In addition, Luhut revealed that the government removed Hong Kong from the list of countries prohibited from entering the country.
So, currently there are 13 countries whose access to arrivals has been closed. These countries include South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia, England, Norway and Denmark.
However, for Indonesian citizens (WNI) returning from the country, they are still allowed to enter Indonesia with stricter conditions, namely, they are required to quarantine for 14 days.
Meanwhile, foreigners and Indonesian citizens from other countries who are not included in the list of 13 countries are required to adjust the quarantine duration to 10x24 hours.
"We also continue to urge the public not to travel abroad that is not essential. The government is seriously considering increasing the quarantine period to 14 days if the spread of the Omicron variant expands," said Luhut.
