Densus 88 Arrest 2 Suspected Terrorists In Babylon, Here's Their Role

JAKARTA - Densus 88 Anti-terror has arrested two suspected terrorists in the Bangka Belitung area. They are members of the terrorist network Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) since several years ago.

"(Both) are members of Jamaah Islamiyah," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan in his statement, Monday, December 20.

The two suspected terrorists had the initials JAQ and IU. They were arrested on Friday, December 20 morning.

The suspected terrorist with the initials JAQ is a JI member who has pledged allegiance since 2005. In fact, he even attended training in Yogyakarta.

"Around 2005, he pledged allegiance to JI, was a Qoid T3 (Taklim, Tarbiyah, and Tahmidz) in the Babylon region, around 2013, attended training to increase the ability of KPQN da'wah in Yogya with other JI members," said Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, the alleged terrorist IU, said Ramadhan, was known to have pledged allegiance to JI since 2014. In fact, he had taught the Ulul Albab Student Islamic Boarding School with the aim of recruiting JI members.

"He has served as a member of the T3 da'wah field in the Taklim Sector, joined the JI group MDJ (Media Dakwah Jogja) group, and left at the Mahad Dzaidz Bin Thabith Islamic boarding school," said Ramadhan.
