Russian Security Service Thwarts 32 Terrorist Attacks So Far This Year, President Putin: Challenging International Situation
JAKARTA - Russia's security services have managed to eliminate the terrorist threat in the country, with President Vladimir Putin citing 32 planned attacks that were prevented over an 11-month period this year.
"Over the past few years, there has been significant progress and positive dynamics in this challenging and very responsible area (the war on terrorism). There has been a dramatic decline in the terrorist threat," the Russian president said in a video statement on the occasion of the Labor Day Security Agency. , citing TASS December 20.
President Putin further explained, over the past eleven years, more than 200 terrorist attacks have been thwarted, the number of terrorist crimes has decreased dramatically during this period.
According to him, most such crimes were foiled by the security services from the start.
"During the 11-month period of the year, 61 crimes were prevented, including 32 terrorist attacks, thanks to your effectiveness and coordination. This is a good result, but there are still many problems," the Russian president told employees of security agencies.
President Putin stressed that the fight against terrorism must be tough and uncompromising.
"Currently, there is a challenging international situation. The nature and scale of the current challenges and risks make higher demands on the work of special services. First of all, the hard and uncompromising struggle against terrorism is your main task and priority," stressed the President. Putin.
