This Year, The GIIAS 2020 Automotive Exhibition Will Be Canceled

JAKARTA - The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) automotive exhibition for 2020 was officially canceled. The event which was planned to take place on October 22 to November 1 2020 at ICE, BSD, Tangerang was canceled.

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Yohannes Nangoi, explained that the international event had to be canceled due to insufficient preparation time.

"Each GIIAS event requires complex, detailed preparations with a long time, therefore, seeing the shorter timeframe, Gaikindo has taken the decision to cancel the GIIAS 2020 - BSD City," said Nangoi in his official statement, Tuesday, 18 August.

Even so, his party is currently working on the automotive event to be held again in 2021. With the hope that Indonesia's economic conditions will recover.

Nangoi explained, as a replacement there will be a smaller scale automotive exhibition, namely Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week which is ready to be held on November 21-29 2020 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

"In line with the government's policy to restore the country's economy, as well as with the full direction and support of the Ministry of Industry, it was decided that this year Gaikindo will hold an automotive exhibition with a different concept from GIIAS," explained Nangoi.

As a replacement for GIIAS, this year, Gaikindo will hold an automotive exhibition with the concept of Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week. In this event, massive car sales and new product introductions are expected to run optimally.

This automotive exhibition will be held on 21-29 November 2020, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). As Chairman of the Gaikindo Exhibition Organizer, Rizwan Alamsjah, said that the exhibition was held with a different concept from GIIAS The Series.

"As we know, GIIAS focuses on promoting the launching of the latest products and technology from the automotive industry. Meanwhile, Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week aims to boost car sales, both existing and newly launched products at the exhibition, "he said.

He added that the exhibition was held according to the COVID-19 protocol standard with restrictions on the number of visitors.
