JAKARTA - President Director of PT Sarinah (Persero) Fetty Kwartati explained that the company is currently transforming its business concept. According to him, this aims to attract the millennial generation to come.

Furthermore, Fetty said, the transformation that the company is currently carrying out will make Sarinah unique, and not to compete with surrounding malls, such as Grand Indonesia or Plaza Indonesia.

"The concept that we will adopt at Sarinah is the concept of a community mall, so it's not head to head with Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia and others. But it becomes a special and unique mall because it relies on community, neighborhood and public engagement. , "he said, in a press conference for the inauguration of the Sarinah transformation at the Sarinah shopping center, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 18.

According to Fetty, there are four areas for Sarinah's future business, namely retail, trading, digital and property. Especially for retail, so far Sarinah is known as a department store or department store, the transformation carried out will change the concept into a specialty store.

Fetty said, the specialty store concept was chosen because it is more relevant for consumers with modern shopping patterns. According to him, with this concept, the products that will be offered by Sarinah are fashion, crafts, health and beauty, accessories to bags.

Regarding products, said Fetty, Sarinah will also make a capacity builder in collaboration with SMESCO, the private sector and other ministries to make MSMEs graduate. Not only that, Sarinah will also create a platform for export, improve product quality and design.

Fetty said, Sarinah will also promote culinary culture by serving Indonesian cuisine in the food and beverage business. A coffee shop will also be available at the Sarinah mall.

To reach international business actors and reach foreign tourists, Sarinah also presents a duty free shop by placing locations not only in the city center, but also Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng and Ngurah Rai, Bali.

Fetty said, curated UMKM products from various categories would be displayed at the Trading House. Sarinah is expected to become an aggregator and data center for Indonesian MSME products to be marketed online and offline.

"The Trading House becomes a showcase of curated products and can become a 'meeting hub' between international partners and SMEs," he said.

Fetty explained, the new concept that will be presented by Sarinah is a culture zone that provides education, both culinary culture, art and experience. To facilitate millennial workers, Sarinah also provides a co-working space that previously did not exist in the mall.

"We will maintain the uniqueness of Sarinah products and Sarinah is expected to become a city icon or destination. Sarinah will become a must visit place in the future and become a game changer for the spirit of locality," he said.
