Jokowi Makes Standards For Indonesian President High, Observer: The 2024 Presidential Election Becomes Momentum For Smart Candidates
JAKARTA - Analyst of the Indonesian Public Opinion Study and Discussion Group (KedaiKOPI) survey agency Hendri Satrio assesses that the 2024 presidential election is a momentum for presidential candidates with smart criteria. The reason, he said, was that President Joko Widodo had set a high standard for Indonesia's development.
"The next President of Indonesia may find it difficult to meet the standards that have been set by President Jokowi. Because Jokowi himself is intelligent, the Indonesian people want a President who is at least as intelligent as Pak Jokowi," said Hendri when releasing the results of public opinion in Jakarta, Sunday, December 19.
The observer of political communication who is familiarly called Hensat also emphasized that there was an interesting shift in the criteria for presidential candidates who would be elected by the people. "The criteria for an intelligent president to be at the top exceeds the criteria for a populist president," he said.
Regarding the presidential threshold (PT) of 20 percent, Hensat said that volunteers and supporters of non-chairman political candidates should not have to attack each other. This is because the positions of non-political party presidential candidates both do not have tickets to run as presidential candidates.
Instead, he suggested that the volunteers should unite their voices to abolish the 20 percent PT.
"Volunteers and supporters should unite, and what should continue to be suppressed are the political party leaders and the Constitutional Court so that it can be (presidential threshold, ed) at zero percent, and the political party leaders so that they can hear more people's voices," explained Hensat.
In the KedaiKOPI survey, the non-political party figure most chosen by the public to become a presidential candidate is the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, who solidly occupies the top position of electability with 33.5 percent gain. Followed by Ridwan Kamil with 23.3 percent, and the former minister of KKP, Susi Pudjiastuti, with 11.8 percent.
Meanwhile, the name of the presidential candidate comes from a political party figure with the highest electability, Prabowo Subianto with 55.4 percent, and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in second place with 16.0 percent.
Meanwhile, the regional head cluster survey results show that Anies Baswedan is the owner of the highest electability of presidential candidates with 37.4 percent, followed by Ganjar Pranowo 34.5 percent, and Ridwan Kamil 13.8 percent.
The KedaiKOPI Institute survey was carried out throughout Indonesia on 16-24 November 2021 with the face to face interview or home visit method.
The number of respondents was 1,200 and the sampling error was approximately 2.83 percent at a 95.0 percent confidence interval. The population of respondents is voters aged 17-65 years.
